The annual health care spending of people aged 64 and higher is two to six times higher, on average than that of younger people. Diabetes is a major expense for these individuals. The rapid aging of national populations indicates that significant increases in total health care costs and a rising financial burden on the public health system cannot be avoided. Can we automate health care to reduce some of the costs? Starting with this vision Numpy Ninja engineers brought in a slew of NLP and Computer vision techniques to digitize patient intake and lab reports and prescriptions. In just 1 month a whopping 67% reduction in costs was observed for a sample set of 40,000 patients. Here is a peek into a few of the techniques we used.
