Application Programming Interface
What is API:
API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface. It is a software Intermediary which allows two applications to talk to each other. Facebook, Instagram, Google search are some of the examples of API.
Real-life example of an API:
Consider you are shopping on an Amazon webpage. After you finish shopping and when you move to Payment page, you can find different options to make your bill payments like Credit/Debits Cards, Paytm, PayPal, Google Pay etc. Once you select a payment option, you get redirected to that particular application to finish your payment.
Say for Instance you prefer to make payment through Google pay. As soon as you select Google Pay, you get directed to Gpay page to make payment. This is how API works an interface between two applications.
What is API Testing:
API testing is a type of software testing which validates the API. The testing is done to determine if API meets Functionality, Security, Reliability and performance expectations.
